fedi client data volumes
Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but even with very restrictive settings (i.e. https://social.tchncs.de/@n_to/109292774036066350 etc.), both Twidere X and Fedilab use up megabytes upon megabytes of my mobile data volume for roughly the same amount of timeline reading that on Twitter Lite only costs me a few hundred kilobytes.
The Twitter Lite data volume is quite plausible to me, because the mere status text sums themselves should hardly be more than a few kilobytes, plus some tiny profile pic thumbnails. Could it be the case that the Fediverse client protocols themselves are just very bloaty in the data transfers they demand?
In any case this somewhat discourages my everyday adoption of Fediverse usage, because much of my microblogging reading is killing time while I'm using public transport etc., where I don't have wifi, and rely on my cheapo 500-megabytes-per-month mobile contract.

re: fedi client data volumes
@marcelweiss Five. Hundred. Megabytes.
re: fedi client data volumes
@marcelweiss (still a good deal I think with the whole contract just 2,99€ per month)
re: fedi client data volumes
@marcelweiss Lange Zeit waren's nur 300 MB, das hat mit dem älteren Mobil-Twitter (was noch ohne JavaScript lief) auch geklappt ;)
